This is number 2486 in a series of photographs of Sandhill Cranes at Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area. Each year more than 100,000 cranes visit the area beginning in October and leaving in March. These magnificent birds spend the night in grain fields of local farms that have already been harvested. Each day at about noon they return to Whitewater Draw or the Willcox Playa where they spend much of the day in the water.
