Description
This Yellow-eyed Junco (Junco phaeonotus) was photographed hopping from rock to rock in the Turkey Creek area of the Chiricahua Mountains. These small but active birds belong to a species of junco, a group of small New World sparrows, that range primarily in Mexico, extending into some of the mountains of the southern tips of Arizona and New Mexico.
